We know that you have a lot of questions, and that is perfectly OK. This is an area of technology that is still relatively new and wild west rules still apply. We have been doing this for a while, and have composed a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) that should take care of some of your questions.
How do I pay for your services
We utilize the most advanced technology the Internet has to offer for our design services, and we do the same for invoicing and payments.
Once we take you on as a client, you will have your own login to our online portal. In the portal, you can see all current and past invoices, statements of account, your credit card information - which you can update at any time, your billing and/or shipping information and your personal information.
We accept all major credit cards for payment - we do not accept checks unless you are a local client (Westerly, RI).
What does your name mean?
The Internet has allowed people the freedom to choose their own destiny, and that is what we have done. Before starting Nomad Web Solutions, I was a digital nomad & bartender, traveling the country and world. It was, and still is, a great part of my life.
Seeing different cultures and people all over this amazing planet help mold me into the man that I am today. Our name encapsulates the time in my life when I was the most free. Our team primarily lives in the Westerly, RI area, but we sometimes use freelancers from all over the world to work on our projects.
Ironically, the Internet has allowed us to go back to our roots of moving and traveling, while still being able to earn a great living.
We are not in Westerly, RI – or the USA; Does that matter?
Of course not! Although it is easier for all parties involved to have face-to-face client meetings, we can accomplish the same goal using the Internet.
We can use Skype for real-time conferences, email for simple correspondence, Google drive for asset sharing and if we need a professional photo/video shoot; we will research media companies in your area.
Anything is possible with the Internet - we are geographically neutral.
How long does the website design process take?
That is a question with a lot of variables. Some questions we need to ask are:
- what type of website are we creating? informational, brochure, restaurant, etc
- is the client providing all of the assets? content, pictures, video, creative, etc
- are we doing everything for the site?
Once we establish a scope of work for your site, we will then have a good idea of what needs to be done. If the client is providing all creative assets, then we can theoretically have your site live in a weeks time.
Our niche is restaurant websites, and we generally create all content for the site. This includes a professional photo shoot of the food which adds to the timeline of the site. These types of websites can be live in 2-3 weeks.
What platform do you use to design?
The Internet has changed at a rate that was totally unforeseen. When we designed our first website over 15 years ago, we built the entire website the old fashioned way - by hand! Every line of code, text and image was carefully crafted down to the pixel.
Slowly but surely, designers & developers started to create repositories of code to help everyone in the industry build better, faster and better looking sites.
Fast forward to today and we use the Wordpress platform for ALL of our websites. In our opinion, it is the best platform for building a modern, responsive website. Over 25% of the websites in the world use this robust technology to power their web presence.
We particularly love this platform for our clients. After a simple tutorial from one of our staff, we will have you updating your site with relative ease.
Our restaurant wants to offer online ordering, how can you help us?
Restaurants are our specialty! We craft advanced websites and apps that allow you to do all of the necessary functions of a modern restaurant.
Using our app technology, your customers will be able to order online directly in your app! They pay within the app and the orders print directly to your line using a 3rd party printer.
No phone calls, no miscommunications, no mistakes! It really is that simple.
Why do I need an app?
This is a really tough question to answer without knowing what your goals are for your business. Not every business needs an app, but with the line between websites and apps being blurred, that may soon change.
